Tampere is the city in Pirkanmaa, located in southern Finland. Within
Nordic countries, it is at top for population. The city dwells between
lakes named Pyhäjärvi and Näsijärvi, Interestingly both lakes have 18
meters level difference from each other. Näsijärvi is at higher level
and water flows Pyhäjärvi through the well-engineered Tammerkoski
rapids. This has been developed as important power generation source
since long. The banks along Tammerkoski have been among the old Finnish
industrial areas. That is why people call Tampere as the Finnish
Manchester because of its popular local name "Manse" based on its being
industrial hub in history too. From Tampere, ride to Helsinki takes 90
minutes by train while by car it takes 2 hours. Another important city
Turku ha sthe same distance.
